1. Acceptance of Terms

By using PreChat (including the web app at chat.prechat.org and the Android app), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What PreChat is

PreChat is a chat, voice/video calling, and social timeline service developed in Thailand by an independent developer (not a company, not a legal entity). The service is free to use, contains no advertising, and never sells user data.

3. Account registration

  • You must be at least 13 years old
  • Choose a username that does not infringe on others' rights (do not impersonate other people without consent)
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure
  • One account per person — account sharing is not permitted

4. Prohibited conduct

Accounts engaging in any of the following will be banned:

  • Sending spam, scams, or phishing
  • Sharing illegal content (child sexual abuse material, human trafficking, weapons, etc.)
  • Infringing on others' intellectual property
  • Harassment, bullying, or hate speech
  • Attempting to attack the system (DDoS, exploits, scraping beyond rate limits)
  • Creating multiple accounts to evade bans
  • Using the service for unauthorized commercial broadcasting

5. Content responsibility

  • Content you send or post is your responsibility, not the developer's
  • The developer does not pre-screen chat content (E2EE makes this impossible anyway)
  • The developer reserves the right to remove public content (PreCast posts) that violates these Terms without prior notice

6. Privacy

Your use is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7. Service provided "as is"

PreChat is in beta — the developer makes a best effort but does not guarantee uptime, and cannot guarantee data won't be lost in the event of server crash or disaster, even though hourly backups are maintained.

Recommendation: For critical data you cannot afford to lose, do not rely on PreChat as your sole storage.

8. Termination / Ban

  • You may close your account at any time (request via [email protected] or "🐛 Report issue" in the app)
  • The developer may ban accounts that violate these Terms — temporarily or permanently
  • The developer may discontinue the service at any time, with at least 30 days' notice and the opportunity to export your data

9. Limitation of liability

The developer is not liable for direct, indirect, or incidental damages arising from your use of PreChat, including but not limited to:

  • Data loss
  • Calls dropping or failing to connect
  • Actions of other users
  • Content sent by scammers impersonating PreChat (note: we never ask for money, OTP, or passwords)

10. Intellectual property

  • The PreChat code, UI design, icons, and brand are the developer's property
  • User content remains owned by the user; the developer has limited rights to use it solely to provide the service
  • Stickers used in the app come from Giphy, subject to Giphy's Terms of Service

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any disputes shall be brought in courts of competent jurisdiction in Thailand.

12. Changes

The developer may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be announced via in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect.
